ECI Composites sells European sub, emphasizes energy business: Gary Whittaker, President of ECI Composites, today announced the sale of the company’s subsidiary Lerc Sa in France. Lerc was sold to Comrod As of the Hexagon Composites group based in Norway. Comrod is a leading manufacturer of composite antennas for military communication and Lerc fabricates both masts and antennas for the global defense communication market. At the same time, Mr. Whittaker announced an aggressive plan to expand its business of supplying the electric utility industry with insulation products. ECI subsidiary, Electro Composites is looking to expand its successful mid to high voltage insulation products business through both internal growth and acquisition. ECI is already progressing in discussions to achieve this objective. Electro Composites Inc. develops and fabricates bushings, insulators and insulating material for utilities and their equipment suppliers. Electro recently introduced a 120 -145 kV bushing for both breakers and transformers and is a leading supplier of high voltage and high current bushings made from polymers.
