HQ Capitech, the VC division of Hydro Québec, invested in ECI in 2000 and assisted the company to grow its business. The relationship was a successful illustration of seed capital from the utility sector helping the private sector to innovate and create new technology.

Recently, Hydro Québec announced its intention to withdraw from the VC business and ECI purchased the stake HQC held.

The company is now 100% owned by its original investors and its key management.

ECI produces solid cast HV bushings for electrical equipment and is the only company in North America producing solid cast product at the level of 69kV and above.
